I thought it would be difficult to find things to do during Ohio’s stay at home orders through the early spring, but with the kiddo home and work in full swing it was pretty easy to keep busy during the day. Though I was starting to feel a serious lack of people interaction pretty quickly. Which shocked me considering I’d call myself an introvert.
Then came a Twitter friend to the rescue! Not only did we have board games in common, we also had small children, and a love of Sims 4 in common. This came in handy as we both preferred building in Sims 4 vs character creation or actual game play. Over the last 3 months we’ve been giving each other build challenges which has had us messaging back and forth, staying busy in the game, and occasionally getting on audio calls together. It’s honestly been a delight.
I bring all this up because I’m starting a serious of posts that will be the builds I completed for these challenges. I’m excited to share these and hope they can provide inspiration for anyone that needs it.
I feel very fortunate to have been able to MAKE a friend during a time when we’re told to keep distant during in person interactions. The fact that she lives two states away doesn’t feel like it means much, and I’m very much looking forward to the day we can ACTUALLY meet in person.
I’m calling this the introduction as it’s how these builds came to be. Here are some sneak peaks into some of the builds I completed. Look forward to many, many more pictures as I work through all the challenges we completed.
March 2nd. March 2nd was the last time I updated, and it was a lame update. I’m not really sure this one will be much better…
The world has kinda gone to shit the last few months, especially in the last few weeks. So let me start by saying this. Black lives matter.
What have I been doing the past 3 months? Honestly, not much… Working, at least attempting to work. We had our daughter home with us full time until last week. I’m insanely grateful that both of us were provided the option to work from home so we could still work and care for her. Now that she’s back at daycare it’s time to buckle down for work, but with everything going on it’s been difficult to keep focus.
I played SO MUCH Animal Crossing, and lately I’ve been playing a lot of Sims 4 again. I’m bummed that all of our summer vacations have been cancelled, but completely understand and respect the decisions. I’ve been over eating and over drinking far too frequently, and the scale is not currently my friend. I did purchase a second hand indoor rowing machine that I was using pretty regularly, then stopped. So now I’ve set myself a schedule because I fucking need to do the thing.
Back to intermittent fasting this week and tracking calories. Because I can’t let myself go to shit just because everything else is. I had 3 months of not taking care of myself. I kept saying “I’ll go back to all of this when things are normal again”, but I honestly don’t think things will ever be back to normal… At least not for several more months. So it’s time to figure out what the new normal is. I need a new routine.
I think I’ve rambled on enough. Stay safe out there friends.
In the Sims 4 at least. She asked me to build a house for a lady with cats so we did just that! I want to preface the incoming pictures with this:
She had full control over the layout of the interior of the house, the items used, and the color scheme chosen. Overall, she did a fine job, and it was a fun thing to do together as we talked through important things needed in a home.
Exterior front of the home. We didn’t do much decorating on the outside of the house, maybe we’ll get back to this at some point, but the in-game family ran short on funds.
Exterior back/side of the house.
View when walking in through the front door. Door on the right is to the bedroom. Door at the back is the bathroom. I’m really digging her idea of the yellow couch after choosing pink/purple for EVERYTHING else.
View from near the bathroom door. You can see the living space and kitchen.
The front door is on the right out of view, and there’s a small kitchen table.
Bedroom. It’s soooo difficult to get good screenshots of small spaces. I think the bedroom came out nicely with the little desk alcove.
Bathroom, again difficult to take screenshots of small spaces. We nearly forgot to add the kitty litter box, but remembered before we finished!
Whole house layout. I did most of the work on the shape of the house, but she definitely provided input on that as well.
This was really fun to do with her, and I hope we can make more houses. There is actually another one that we did before this with mermaids. Maybe someday I’ll share that one too. 🙂
