Sims Build Challenges – Introduction

I thought it would be difficult to find things to do during Ohio’s stay at home orders through the early spring, but with the kiddo home and work in full swing it was pretty easy to keep busy during the day. Though I was starting to feel a serious lack of people interaction pretty quickly. Which shocked me considering I’d call myself an introvert.

Then came a Twitter friend to the rescue! Not only did we have board games in common, we also had small children, and a love of Sims 4 in common. This came in handy as we both preferred building in Sims 4 vs character creation or actual game play. Over the last 3 months we’ve been giving each other build challenges which has had us messaging back and forth, staying busy in the game, and occasionally getting on audio calls together. It’s honestly been a delight.

I bring all this up because I’m starting a serious of posts that will be the builds I completed for these challenges. I’m excited to share these and hope they can provide inspiration for anyone that needs it.

I feel very fortunate to have been able to MAKE a friend during a time when we’re told to keep distant during in person interactions. The fact that she lives two states away doesn’t feel like it means much, and I’m very much looking forward to the day we can ACTUALLY meet in person.

I’m calling this the introduction as it’s how these builds came to be. Here are some sneak peaks into some of the builds I completed. Look forward to many, many more pictures as I work through all the challenges we completed.

I Let my Three Year Old Help Decorate

In the Sims 4 at least. She asked me to build a house for a lady with cats so we did just that! I want to preface the incoming pictures with this:

She had full control over the layout of the interior of the house, the items used, and the color scheme chosen. Overall, she did a fine job, and it was a fun thing to do together as we talked through important things needed in a home.

Exterior front of the home. We didn’t do much decorating on the outside of the house, maybe we’ll get back to this at some point, but the in-game family ran short on funds.

Exterior back/side of the house.

View when walking in through the front door. Door on the right is to the bedroom. Door at the back is the bathroom. I’m really digging her idea of the yellow couch after choosing pink/purple for EVERYTHING else.

View from near the bathroom door. You can see the living space and kitchen.

The front door is on the right out of view, and there’s a small kitchen table.

Bedroom. It’s soooo difficult to get good screenshots of small spaces. I think the bedroom came out nicely with the little desk alcove.

Bathroom, again difficult to take screenshots of small spaces. We nearly forgot to add the kitty litter box, but remembered before we finished!

Whole house layout. I did most of the work on the shape of the house, but she definitely provided input on that as well.

This was really fun to do with her, and I hope we can make more houses. There is actually another one that we did before this with mermaids. Maybe someday I’ll share that one too. 🙂

Final Fantasy Play Throughs

Ten years ago I got the ambitious idea to play through all primary Final Fantasy games from the first one until the last one. This didn’t include Tactics, the online ones, or off-shoots from X and XII. So Final Fantasy’s number I through XII at that point are going to be played. Well, I’m here to tell you that I’m still, VERY SLOWLY, working through these.

Ten years ago I started Final Fantasy I… I actually had a different blog then where I talked about that. I’m sure it’s still exists somewhere on the internet, but I don’t even remember which domain name I was using at that point in time… Oh well!

Over the past few years I’ve finished FF VI, VII, and I started VIII over the weekend. See! Progress, the slowest progress ever, but progress none-the-less. Whoohoo. I’m excited to be play VIII. I honestly don’t think I ever have. I think I skipped it and went strait to IX. So, now I’m playing the remastered VIII on the Switch (I initially meant to play the original on the Vita, but the remastered came out before I got to that), and I really want to understand the card game! I’m just not. I’ve already lost the first set of cards I’d gotten along with the Ifrit card. 😦 So clearly I need to do some reading maybe on how it works. I thought I had it figured out… maybe I’m just bad at it.

Anyways, I wanted to post something here, and FF VIII is at the top of my mind right now. Outside of work related things anyways so I’m sharing my joy. I’m hoping I can finish VIII before the end of the year so I can dig into IX again! It’s been a long, long time since I played IX, and I’m excited to see my pal Vivi again!

Sims 4 – I’ve Been Doing Some Building

I wanted to share a couple of my more recent builds! I haven’t been finding as much time to play since the weather’s gotten nicer. Being outdoors has definitely taken over more of my free time, but I have done these few things recently!

The first one I’m calling Teal Comfort. I made this small house for my Sim-self and my Sim-corgi. If I were living on my own this is probably pretty similar to what I would want for myself, this is missing the massive board game collection though!

Punk Rock Legacy – Apartment Upgrade?

During the stream last night I made some changes to the family’s apartment. I was having a difficult time with the layout and everything in the place. So they sold all their stuff, tore down some walls, and remodeled. However, after upgrading the kitchen and installing the bathrooms there wasn’t much money left for anything else. It’ll be okay because now there’s room for each person to put their own spin on the place! Here are a few screenshots from the stream. Continue reading “Punk Rock Legacy – Apartment Upgrade?”

Punk Rock Legacy – It’s Baby Time!

I didn’t update after my 2nd and 3rd streaming sessions because finding time has been difficult. So here I am, 4 days after the 3rd session to give you all an update, and to get ready for my next stream (Sunday at 8pm EST)

Last time I said the mission for the next stream would be to get Toni knocked up, continue the feud with Salim, and get a promotion. All of those things were accomplished and then some between the two streams! Continue reading “Punk Rock Legacy – It’s Baby Time!”

Punk Rock Legacy – Sims 4 Twitch Stream

Last night I did my first Sims 4 life stream. I’m not sure how frequently/consistently I’ll be able to stream, but I’m going to try to find a schedule that works. I took several screenshots from in game so I’m going to post those with a bit of story here. Again, I’m not sure if this is something I’ll do regularly, maybe only when big things happen in the game, but I’d consider her first few days of life pretty big! Busy Holidays Update

TWO MONTHS! I knew I wasn’t going to be able to keep up with a regular posting schedule. #noregrets. It’s been busy ya’ll. Here’s the highlights:

  • Spent all of December packing up the house. Took several trips to drop stuff at second hand shops.
  • Closed and moved into the new house the week before Christmas while I had a cold. Yippie!
  • Hosted family dinner FOUR DAYS after moving. Family dinner was supposed to happen, then it wasn’t happening, and then family decided THE DAY OF that they were coming. Which means we ordered pizza since we didn’t have anything else prepared. Whoohoo. It was awesome (sarcasm).
  • Had a quiet Christmas Day with just our tiny little family.
  • Had a few friends over for NYE. At this point the new house was mostly put together.
  • Didn’t track food/alcohol well over the moving and holidays so gained a bit of weight back.
  • Since the beginning of the year I’ve been working(ish) to get back on track. Meal prepping, going to the gym at least twice a week (I’m gaining muscle yay!), and tracking calories daily.
  • Cutting BACK, but not cutting OUT alcohol.
  • Started playing Glooomhaven. Pretty sure that’s going to be happening for 2 years at the rate we’re all able to play.
  • Got a Switch for Christmas! Played through Fire Emblem Warriors and now I’m playing through Octopath Traveller. Super enjoying Octopath so far.
  • Crocheted myself a blanket while house bound due to snow/weather!
  • And lastly. The old house is scheduled to close in February!

Whew! That’s everything of importance. Obviously I’ve continued playing board games through all of this, and my new gaming room is nice! Trying to figure out what I want to do as a content creator in the realm of board games or even video games.

I’m still trying to figure out what I want to do with this space other than just being a brain dump. I have a lot of ideas for a lot of things. I’m just terrible at executing.

Hope everyone’s New Year is starting well! Talk to you all in like two months when I post again!

Sims 4 Legacy Challenge – Meet the Scott Family

A few months ago I got back into Sims 4. It had been quite  awhile since I played, but The Sims is just one of those games I always go back to. Typically when I play I spend forever making a sim and a house, using money cheats of course. This time I wanted to actually play. So I was browsing Reddit and saw something about legacy challenges. I’m honestly not sure how I haven’t heard of them before. I looked this up, but decided I wasn’t going to be as strict about it as it’s set up. I’m following some of the overall guidelines, but I’m not stressing about it. Here is what it’s all about if you’re interested.
