Each year, usually early in the year, I do an inventory check of my board games. This makes sure my digital inventory on Board Game Geek is accurate, but also has me looking at each individual box. Looking at the boxes is the important part of this because it gives me the chance to say “do I really want to play this again” or ask “does someone else I play with regularly own this?”. If the answer to the first is no or the answer to the second is yes then the box goes on the stack.
For 2019 I sent a challenge to read 36 books. I did not hit this goal, but I still managed to read or listen to 30 books over the year. Looking back at the list though I feel I could’ve done better. A lot of the books were graphic novel quick reads, and I’m a little disappointed I didn’t do more non-fiction. However, I have a large list of non-fiction to work through for 2020!
As we prepare for the final holiday push of the year I have some time to reflect. It’s been a year of ups and downs, but that’s every year right?
2019 started with a New Years Eve party in our new house (moved mid-December 2018). It also started with a contract on the old house we had been trying to sell since November. All things off to a good start! Through the year the toddler toddled and turned into a three and a half year old with a willful personality. I hated a job, left that job, found a new job, and became CRISC certified.
In the Sims 4 at least. She asked me to build a house for a lady with cats so we did just that! I want to preface the incoming pictures with this:
She had full control over the layout of the interior of the house, the items used, and the color scheme chosen. Overall, she did a fine job, and it was a fun thing to do together as we talked through important things needed in a home.
Exterior front of the home. We didn’t do much decorating on the outside of the house, maybe we’ll get back to this at some point, but the in-game family ran short on funds.
Exterior back/side of the house.
View when walking in through the front door. Door on the right is to the bedroom. Door at the back is the bathroom. I’m really digging her idea of the yellow couch after choosing pink/purple for EVERYTHING else.
View from near the bathroom door. You can see the living space and kitchen.
The front door is on the right out of view, and there’s a small kitchen table.
Bedroom. It’s soooo difficult to get good screenshots of small spaces. I think the bedroom came out nicely with the little desk alcove.
Bathroom, again difficult to take screenshots of small spaces. We nearly forgot to add the kitty litter box, but remembered before we finished!
Whole house layout. I did most of the work on the shape of the house, but she definitely provided input on that as well.
This was really fun to do with her, and I hope we can make more houses. There is actually another one that we did before this with mermaids. Maybe someday I’ll share that one too. 🙂
Ten years ago I got the ambitious idea to play through all primary Final Fantasy games from the first one until the last one. This didn’t include Tactics, the online ones, or off-shoots from X and XII. So Final Fantasy’s number I through XII at that point are going to be played. Well, I’m here to tell you that I’m still, VERY SLOWLY, working through these.
Ten years ago I started Final Fantasy I… I actually had a different blog then where I talked about that. I’m sure it’s still exists somewhere on the internet, but I don’t even remember which domain name I was using at that point in time… Oh well!
Over the past few years I’ve finished FF VI, VII, and I started VIII over the weekend. See! Progress, the slowest progress ever, but progress none-the-less. Whoohoo. I’m excited to be play VIII. I honestly don’t think I ever have. I think I skipped it and went strait to IX. So, now I’m playing the remastered VIII on the Switch (I initially meant to play the original on the Vita, but the remastered came out before I got to that), and I really want to understand the card game! I’m just not. I’ve already lost the first set of cards I’d gotten along with the Ifrit card. 😦 So clearly I need to do some reading maybe on how it works. I thought I had it figured out… maybe I’m just bad at it.
Anyways, I wanted to post something here, and FF VIII is at the top of my mind right now. Outside of work related things anyways so I’m sharing my joy. I’m hoping I can finish VIII before the end of the year so I can dig into IX again! It’s been a long, long time since I played IX, and I’m excited to see my pal Vivi again!
I know I made no promises to myself or anyone else about updating this space with any kind of regularity. I know I promised myself I would take it easy on myself for slipping on the diet/exercise train. I know I’m only human, but I’ve been kind of down on myself lately.
From a post back in April I made this awesome list of things I wanted to do, and I’ve done none of them. Well, I have played more Sims 4, and I did do some streaming for a bit. Set a schedule and everything, but then I couldn’t keep up with it. I’m not sure if going back to streaming is even something I want to do now.
- Like I said earlier, actually set a schedule for Sims 4 streaming.
- Create some board game crossword puzzles. I just think that could be a fun monthly post here. If I can find a way so people can do the crossword on the site instead of printing it out that’d be great!
- Just post more here, even if it’s silly stuff like this post.
- Play more solo board games! This will include finishing my current game of Legacy of Dragonholt, and working through my backlog of games since most of them I got for solo gaming anyways.
I wanted to share a couple of my more recent builds! I haven’t been finding as much time to play since the weather’s gotten nicer. Being outdoors has definitely taken over more of my free time, but I have done these few things recently!
The first one I’m calling Teal Comfort. I made this small house for my Sim-self and my Sim-corgi. If I were living on my own this is probably pretty similar to what I would want for myself, this is missing the massive board game collection though!
During the stream last night I made some changes to the family’s apartment. I was having a difficult time with the layout and everything in the place. So they sold all their stuff, tore down some walls, and remodeled. However, after upgrading the kitchen and installing the bathrooms there wasn’t much money left for anything else. It’ll be okay because now there’s room for each person to put their own spin on the place! Here are a few screenshots from the stream. Continue reading “Punk Rock Legacy – Apartment Upgrade?”
I didn’t update after my 2nd and 3rd streaming sessions because finding time has been difficult. So here I am, 4 days after the 3rd session to give you all an update, and to get ready for my next stream (Sunday at 8pm EST)
Last time I said the mission for the next stream would be to get Toni knocked up, continue the feud with Salim, and get a promotion. All of those things were accomplished and then some between the two streams! Continue reading “Punk Rock Legacy – It’s Baby Time!”
Last night I did my first Sims 4 life stream. I’m not sure how frequently/consistently I’ll be able to stream, but I’m going to try to find a schedule that works. I took several screenshots from in game so I’m going to post those with a bit of story here. Again, I’m not sure if this is something I’ll do regularly, maybe only when big things happen in the game, but I’d consider her first few days of life pretty big!
